North Korea's escalatory rhetoric, misguided decision-making, and destabilizing actions endanger the peace and security of the region, and beyond it, said U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield.
"We have seen a significant spike in ransomware attacks on hospitals and health care organizations here in the United States, causing disruptions to everything from prescription refills to vital surgeries," said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield.
"And now, the U.S.-Japan alliance is a beacon to the entire world,” said President Biden.

"In every corner of the globe, millions of children in conflict zones are in desperate need of food and clean water, education and medical care – all the essentials of life,” said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield.
“We call upon Vietnam to respect the rights of individuals to exercise freedoms of expression, association, and religion or belief,” Spokesperson Miller said. “We reiterate our call on Vietnam to release all those unjustly detained.”
"We're bolstering the Pacific regional architecture and deepening our cooperation with the Pacific Island Forum, because we know this region is strongest when it is united," said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield.
Biden and Xi discussed "counternarcotics cooperation, ongoing military-to-military communications, talks to address artificial-intelligence-related risks, and continuing efforts on climate change."
The U.S. is working to help people living under repressive regimes, like Iran, get access to digital tools, including the uncensored internet, said Secretary Blinken.
"Moscow appears to be intent on facilitating the DPRK’s illegal pursuit of weapons of mass destruction, and its veto today was a self-interested effort to bury the panel’s reporting on its own collusion with the DPRK," said Ambassador Wood.
"Since this incredible Water for the World Act became law, USAID has helped 42 million people access clean water, and 38 million people access sanitation services,” said USAID Administrator Power.
“More countries are putting up firewalls and shutting down access, using the internet to try to control speech, quash dissent, spread misinformation and disinformation," said Secretary Blinken.
