“Every person should have a right and the ability to have access to clean water,” said U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris.
"The U.S. Agency for International Development is supporting access to clean energy in Ghana through initiatives like supporting small holder farmers to install solar-powered irrigation," said Acting Assistant Secretary Littlejohn.
"Humanitarian access to all Syrians ... must be unhindered. That includes cross-line humanitarian deliveries to the Rukban settlement, where the regime and Russia continue to block UN convoys,” said Ambassador Wood.
"[T]he United States is working side by side with Brazil to support its efforts to preserve the rainforest, to combat deforestation," said Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
“Adapting to increasing floods requires very different solutions than adapting to crippling heat waves, for example,” said USAID Administrator Samantha Power.
“Ultimately,” said USAID Administrator Power, “for climate disasters to no longer shock our systems, we need people and organizations across our systems to prepare for them.”
“Last year, 2023, … was literally the most climate disruptive, most climate consequential negative year in human history,” said U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change, John Kerry.
“Without good soil, crops fail, prices rise, people go hungry. Eroding soil also worsens the impact of droughts, of floods, of other climate-driven extreme weather,” said State Secretary Blinken.
"For the very first time at a COP, fossil fuels have been on the table as a major part of our negotiations," said U.S. Special Envoy for Climate Change John Kerry.
“700 million people are chronically undernourished. About half of these people face acute food insecurity: meaning quite simply they don’t know where their next meal is coming from,” said Secretary Blinken.
"Africa is rich with nutritious, traditional and indigenous crops,” said Special Envoy for Food Security Dr. Cary Fowler.
"The numbers of food insecure people are greater. The crises seem to be more frequent," said Dr. Cary Fowler.
