The United States government is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the identification or location of Abu Ali al-Tunisi. Al-Tunisi is a key leader in the ISIS terrorist organization. He has injuries to his right hand and right eye.

Al-Tunisi is the head of manufacturing for ISIS in Iraq. He has trained ISIS members on how to construct explosives, suicide vests, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Al-Tunisi has also provided advanced training on weapons development and the manufacturing of chemical weapons.

ISIS has been designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization since December 2004 under section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act. According to the U.S. Department of State’s 2022 Country Reports on Terrorism, ISIS has “expanded its recruitment and operations across key locales, growing its global network to approximately 20 branches and affiliates.” The United States is a committed partner in the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, which the U.S. formed in 2014.

“The Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS remains united and resolved in its determination to ensure the enduring defeat of ISIS wherever it attempts to operate, and to hold ISIS terrorists accountable under criminal justice systems,” said a State Department statement.
