The United Nations Security Council has adopted the United States sponsored resolution on Gaza that provides a pathway to lasting peace for Palestinians and Israelis.
Following the historic vote, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Walz said the UN “proved it can be great again” and that it can “be a beacon for peace, not just a bystander.”
“Today marks a turning point—not just for Gaza, not just for the Middle East, but for what international cooperation under President [Donald] Trump’s leadership can achieve when we choose diplomacy over destruction, when we choose stability over suffering, and peace over perpetual conflict.”
This resolution would not have been possible without President Trump’s bold leadership and his vision, said Ambassador Walz.
“[L]iterally just weeks ago, the Middle East was mired in conflict. Hostages remained in tunnels, in captivity. Palestinians in Gaza suffered in a hell on earth as the war raged on. Then President Trump secured a historic peace deal—with the critical support of Qatar, Egypt, and Türkiye. Hostages came home to their families, and we are still working to bring home the remaining three hostages who remain in Gaza. But we’ve also seen massive humanitarian aid begin flowing into Gaza, an average of 660 trucks per day since the ceasefire.”
Ambassador Walz expressed gratitude to the United States’ Arab partners and the Muslim majority countries for their support in passing the resolution. He also noted the endorsement of the gathering at Sharm el-Sheikh, where over 20 countries supported this comprehensive approach to peace.
Ambassador Walz went on to lay out the key parts of the plan. First, he noted, the Security Council endorsed all aspects of President Trump’s historic 20-Point Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.
This includes the Board of Peace, which will be led by President Trump and remains the cornerstone of the effort. The Board will coordinate the delivery of humanitarian assistance, facilitate Gaza’s development, and support a committee of Palestinians responsible for day-to-day operations of Gaza’s civil service and administration.
The resolution authorizes an International Stabilization Force to help demilitarize the Gaza Strip, including the destruction and prevention of rebuilding the military, terror, and offensive infrastructure. It also ensures the decommissioning from Hamas and its partners.
Ambassador Walz expressed hope that passage of the resolution would bring investment into Gaza and revitalize its economy, providing Palestinians with an opportunity instead of saddling them with perpetual reliance on aid.
This resolution represents the first real step in generations towards forging a lasting peace for Gaza, Palestinians, Israelis, and the entire region, said Ambassador Walz. Thanks to President Trump’s bold leadership, a stable, safe, and prosperous future in the Middle East is now within reach.
