“For in the end,” said Mr. Rubio, “how can America promote the cause of peace on Earth if it is not first safe at home? What good is America to our allies if it is not strong?"
“We see around the world that there is a risk of backlash as we make gains on [women’s] rights and opportunities,” said USAID Senior Coordinator Jamille Bigio.
“We are providing scholarships around the world so that women have opportunities without financial barriers to participate in education programs," said USAID Senior Coordinator Bigio.
"If women have equal access to resources to make their farms as productive as the farms of men ... that there would be 45 million fewer food insecure people in the world," said USAID Coordinator Bigio.
The U.S. calls “on governments to strengthen export controls to curb the proliferation of these technologies without guardrails and to provide remedy and justice for victims of commercial spyware," said Ambassador Shea.
"We are working to make sure that when women have these jobs that they ... can continue to succeed and promote economic growth in their countries,” said USAID Senior Coordinator Bigio.
“Based on this information, I have now concluded that members of the RSF and allied militias have committed genocide in Sudan,” said Secretary Blinken in a written statement.
“Sudan is experiencing one of the greatest human crises not only of the day, but our lifetime,” said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield.
“A lasting peace for the long-suffering communities within the DRC is absolutely critical for security and for prosperity of all citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo,” said Ambassador Van Schaack.
"We are seeing that humanitarian workers are under threat worldwide. We're seeing that at a number of different conflict locations around the world and the brutal murder of Michael Sharp and his colleagues is another example of that," said Ambassador Van Schaack.
"[W]e’ve delivered important progress and innovations that will leave a lasting legacy on human rights around the globe, including leveraging global institutions to address U.S. human rights priorities," said Under Secretary Zeya.
"The United States is the largest single humanitarian donor in Africa, having provided more than $6.7 billion dollars in humanitarian assistance across the continent in 2024," said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield.
