"The best goodwill gesture the Russians can provide is to say yes – to say yes to the offer that the Ukrainians have made to stop the shooting," said Secretary Rubio.
"So, it’s starting a new era ... where we’re saying that it is not acceptable in any case to hold American citizens abroad wrongfully,” said U.S. Senior Advisor Adam Boehler.
"2,000 people are being killed every single week. More than that. They are Russian young people. They’re Ukrainian young people. They’re not Americans. But I want it to stop," said President Trump.
“We are trying to end a war. You cannot end a war unless both sides come to the table, starting with the Russians, and that is the point the President has made,” said Secretary Rubio.
“We’re going to do the best we can to make the best deal we can for both sides,” said President Trump. “But for Ukraine, we’re going to try very hard to make a good deal so that they can get as much back as possible.”
Now is the time for the U.S. and France to work toward ending another long-running war - the one between Ukraine and Russia - “that is ravaging European soil,” said President Trump.
“This resolution puts us on the path to peace,” said Ambassador Shea. “Now we must use it to build a peaceful future for Ukraine, Russia, and the international community.”
"[W]e're going to appoint a high-level team from our end to help negotiate and work through the end of the conflict in Ukraine in a way that's enduring and acceptable to all the parties engaged," said Secretary Rubio.
Poland is a strategic frontline partner on NATO's eastern flank and a “model ally, not only in words,” said Secretary Hegseth.
“The United States … is committed to ending the carnage and restoring stability to Europe,” said Ambassador Kelley.
