Tensions between Burma’s many ethnic minorities have sparked violence in the Southeast Asian nation. In addition to sending condolences and emergency assistance to those affected by the violence, the United States urges Burmese authorities to restore order and maintain peace in a manner that respects human rights and due process of law.
