"The Haitian people – not Haitian gangs – will write the country’s future," said Secretary Blinken.
“González Urrutia won the most votes in Venezuela’s July 28 presidential election,” said Spokesperson Miller. “Maduro and his representatives cannot indefinitely suppress the legitimate aspirations of the Venezuelan people and maintain power by force.”
“We continue to support the Syrian people’s calls for peace, dignity, security, and justice, and we support the exercise by Syrians of their rights of peaceful assembly and freedom of expression,” said Ambassador Wood.
"We hope that next year, Ukrainians will be able to celebrate their independence in peace," said Ambassador Wood.
"Now is the time for the Venezuelan parties to begin discussions on a respectful, peaceful transition in accordance with Venezuelan electoral law, and the wishes of the Venezuelan people," said Deputy Spokesperson Patel.
The United States, allies and partners called for “the respect of democratic principles, as well as the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all Venezuelans, particularly the freedom of peaceful assembly and the freedom of expression.”
"Progress toward military unification would reaffirm Libyan sovereignty and help prevent Libya from becoming enmeshed in regional conflict," said Ambassador Wood.
"We applaud Somalia's continued commitment to the fight against al-Shabab," said Political Minister Counselor Kelley. "We fully support Somalia's goal of assuming greater responsibility for its own security as soon as possible."
"South Sudan is at a critical crossroads. The transitional government has the opportunity to choose the path of peace and prosperity over fear and desperation," said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield.
“In coordination with our allies and partners ... we are taking additional sanctions actions to promote accountability for the Lukashenka regime’s continued repression,” said Secretary Blinken.
"The 80 percent of the tally sheets published by the democratic opposition and received directly from polling stations show that Edmundo González received an overwhelming majority of the votes in this election," said Deputy Spokesperson Patel.
