“We see around the world that there is a risk of backlash as we make gains on [women’s] rights and opportunities,” said USAID Senior Coordinator Jamille Bigio.
“The Houthis are the primary impediment to greater international support and are jeopardizing the possibility of peace in Yemen,” said Ambassador Shea.
"Since June 2020, at least 200 opposition politicians, activists, and protesters have been taken into custody on politically motivated NSL charges," said President Joe Biden.
“For years we have heard unrelenting testimony of Russia’s shocking abuses and atrocities. We must not lose sight of how reprehensible and unacceptable they are,” said Ambassador Shea.
"We’ve reached this point because of the pressure that Israel built on Hamas backed by the United States. Hamas's longtime leader, Sinwar, was killed," said President Biden.
“Our alliances are stronger. Our adversaries and competitors are weaker. We have not gone to war to make these things happen," said President Biden.
“The Venezuelan people and the world know the truth – Maduro clearly lost the 2024 presidential election and has no right to claim the presidency,” said Secretary Blinken.
“Syria should not be used as a platform to extend other countries’ interests at the expense of the Syrian people,” said Ambassador Shea.
A joint statement urged the military regime and all armed actors in Burma to de-escalate violence, respect international human rights laws, protect civilians, and allow full, safe, and unimpeded humanitarian access.
“Based on this information, I have now concluded that members of the RSF and allied militias have committed genocide in Sudan,” said Secretary Blinken in a written statement.
“A lasting peace for the long-suffering communities within the DRC is absolutely critical for security and for prosperity of all citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo,” said Ambassador Van Schaack.
This action will “ensure that sanctions do not impede essential services and continuity of governance functions across Syria, including the provision of electricity, energy, water, and sanitation,” said Treasury Deputy Secretary Adeyemo.
