"If the Kremlin achieves its war aims ... Russia will continue its siege elsewhere and more people, more children, will suffer," said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield.
"It recognizes Russia as the most direct threat to the Alliance, while highlighting the new security environment that we’re operation in with threats from the People’s Republic of China, transnational challenges,” said Secretary Blinken.
While women are disproportionately affected by conflict, they are “underrepresented in the halls of power: from local governments, all the way up to multilateral organizations,” said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield.
“Our G7 partners pledged steadfast support for Ukraine into and through 2025, continuing what has been a truly unprecedented partnership,” said Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The G7 is concerned about “China’s ongoing support for Russia’s defense industrial base – all of which is allowing Russia to continue the aggression against Ukraine,” said Secretary Blinken.
"Our G7 partners pledged steadfast support for Ukraine into and through 2025 ... sharing the burden, determined to do everything that we can to help Ukraine deal with the ongoing Russian aggression," said Secretary Blinken.
“Gender-based violence remains pandemic, with one in three women worldwide experiencing intimate partner and/or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime,” said Ambassador Lu.
“We are within striking distance of eliminating HIV-transmission. We have the science. We have the treatments. Most of all, we have each other,” said President Joe Biden in a statement.
The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Gazprombank for being “a conduit for Russia to purchase military materiel for its war against Ukraine.”
“The gender gap has a real economic cost. The energy sector has one of the largest examples of that gap. Only 16 percent of traditional energy sector employees are women. And it’s about 32 percent in the clean energy sector,” said Assistant Secretary Pyatt.
“It is shocking that Russia has vetoed an effort to save lives – though perhaps, it shouldn’t be,” said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield. “They claim it is because of Sudanese sovereignty. But Sudan supports the resolution.”
“As Ukrainians continue the fight against imperialist invasion and might-makes-right ideology,” said Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield, “the United States stands with them.”
